Sahana Saravanan is a senior at Blake High School of the Arts, majoring in Theater Performance. From a young age, she has been inspired by all forms of art. She started learning Indian Classical Carnatic singing with her mother at the age of 4, and soon picked up various other styles to focus on, including western classical, Indian contemporary, musical theater, and pop. She has been selected to perform at local, county, state, and global levels throughout her academic years. She has also received many recognitions and accolades, with the most recent ones being the Anne Frank Humanitarian Award and a performance with the Honors Performance Series at the prestigious Musikverein in Vienna, Austria. In addition to music, she is passionate about dance (Indian classical & modern fusion) and is a straight-A student. Sahana is thrilled to be able to work on this non-profit project and make an impact through the beauty of music!
"Recognizing the value of music and how it befriended me in my darkest times, I started the Sahana Music Foundation to spread her benefits to others. My nonprofit's mission is to educate people and show them how music can be utilized as a therapeutic medium. Presenting in places in Tampa and cities throughout India reinforced my belief that music can change lives, as it did with mine."
